during this dessert of a read was how incredibly quotable it is. Every time I enjoyed this story there was at least one thing that I wanted to jot down to remember for book group. I was constantly reminded of Fannie Flagg's Fried Green Tomatoes-the book of course, (shame on you if you thought of the movie first ;0) ) and Kathryn Stockett's, The Help. The characters are so endearing I found myself wondering if I would have grown up to be a nicer person if I had been born Southern. I would have a better complexion to be sure!
The author shows her talent by making characters lovable and sweet without turning the story line trite and saccharine; it's very easy to like and empathize with wrong-doers and do-gooders alike (all but one anyway!). I call this book a very funny tear jerker and you'll have to read it to know what I mean :0).
